Allergen Information Statement

At Donington Fish and Chips, we take the safety and well-being of our customers very seriously. We understand that food allergies and intolerances are an important consideration, and we are committed to being transparent and responsible in how we handle allergens.

Please read the following carefully:

While we strive to manage allergens as carefully as possible, we are not an allergen-free kitchen. Our food is prepared in an environment where some or all of the 14 major allergens are handled, including (but not limited to): gluten (wheat), eggs, fish, milk, mustard, soybeans, and sulphites. Due to the nature of our kitchen and food preparation processes, there is a high risk of cross-contamination, including airborne allergens. As such, we cannot guarantee that any of our food is entirely free from traces of any allergen.

Gluten-Free Options:

We are pleased to offer gluten-free specific items, prepared using separate fryers, utensils, oil, and clearly labelled and separate packaging to reduce the risk of cross-contamination. While we take all reasonably practicable steps to prepare and serve these items safely, gluten-containing products are still present in our kitchen. Therefore, we cannot provide an absolute guarantee of a gluten-free environment.

Customers with coeliac disease or severe gluten intolerance should assess the risk before ordering and are welcome to speak with a member of staff or manager about our preparation methods in more detail.

What You Can Expect from Us:

  • Allergen information for the 14 legally recognised allergens is available upon request in-store, over the phones or can be viewed on our allergen matrix.

  • Staff are trained in allergen awareness and food handling procedures.

  • We work closely with suppliers to obtain and maintain accurate ingredient and allergen information.

  • We label and store ingredients and utensils carefully, and take active steps to minimise the risk of cross-contamination.

Your Responsibility as a Customer:

We strongly advise anyone with a food allergy, intolerance, or coeliac disease to:

  • Inform a member of our team before ordering.

  • Ask to speak with a manager if you require detailed allergen or ingredient information.

  • Use your own judgement when deciding whether our food is suitable for you.
